After obtaining a degree in Marketing and Finance and working as securities accountant for a number of years, I realized I enjoyed working with numbers but wanted to be of more service. I went back to Rutgers University and obtained a degree in Pure and Applied Mathematics with the desire to teach. Mathematically Speaking, LLC was established in 2003.
As both a right brain(trained dancer and poet) and a left brain person, I use this to inform my approach to teaching each student. I employ the teaching style that best suits them individually.
Mathematics is my passion and teaching it is an honor. My enthusiasm is very evident and palpable and often transfers to the students. If I want students to be interested in what they are learning they must see a teacher who is interested in what she is teaching. I am invested in my student's learning and in their success and they know it.
It is a regular practice in the program to make myself available to my students when they are not in session. In honor of my late mentor, Dr. Hank Levinson, at Rutgers who made himself available to his students at anytime, I have been committed to doing the same since the program’s inception. To avoid frustrated learning and to continue to facilitate and deepen understanding, I encourage my students to email or text their work or questions whenever they arise.
Mathematically Speaking has never advertised. Our program has grown on the strength of referrals only. That speaks volumes about how effectively the program serves the needs of our students and their parents. In 2003, the program started with just three students and there is an average active roster of 68 students in the program. While the growth gives more of a chance to share our knowledge, it has not come at the expense of the expertise, implementation, quality and organization needed to help our students succeed.
Our mission is to build each student’s confidence by designing an individual program, which is determined by a diagnostic test. At Mathematically Speaking, every program is developed and implemented to address any conceptual gaps, regardless of grade level, or to challenge the student, who would benefit from enrichment. Homework is an integral part of the program. It helps retain the knowledge of concepts and builds lasting proficiency.
We offer tutoring services for all levels of mathematics.
