“My son left your class Saturday feeling more confident and seemingly committed to getting the extra support. He expressed getting a great deal more insight from your instructional style in just the time spent with you. We look forward to becoming part of the mathspeaks family.”
- Kim C., Algebra 1
"When I asked my daughter how did tutoring go she answered with a big grin on her face and said “Mommy I like tutoring. I felt comfortable doing my work. I like Mrs. Kingslow!”. Thank you for making my daughter’s first day of tutoring a positive experience."
-S. Duff
“You got him through all his high school math and science. I do not know what we would have done without you”.
- J. Brown
“I wanted to let you know my daughter received her report card and got an ‘A’ in math. The skills she is learning in your sessions have definitely helped to reinforce what she is being taught at school. Actually, she seems to have a better grasp of her class work after meeting with you each week”.
– Donna K., 5th grade
“My son is now a senior in high school. In his junior year he struggled to maintain a C grade in Honors Calculus. Even though he met with his teacher twice weekly was not performing [sic] better and the time he put in caused his
other grades to suffer. Through a friend I learned of Ms. Kingslow’s tutoring program and signed him up for the second half of his junior year. He successfully raised his grade from a C to B in Honors Calculus and more importantly has a renewed interest and confidence in math."
- Janet F.
“…our son got a 90 on the final exam! And because of this grade along with his other grades this quarter he does not have to go to summer school. This could not have happened had we not started with you. He says you make it so clear! Thank you so much for your gift of teaching and empowering my son to walk in that exam with confidence.”
– Joyce W., Algebra 1
Mathematically Speaking has made the difference in my daughter passing or failing. Nyasa is an awesome tutor. With individualizing her instruction she gives the students back their confidence.”
- Debra W., Algebra, Geometry
"Nyasa has tutored all three of my children over many years in various levels of math, science and standardized test prep. She is phenomenal! I cannot say enough about her professionalism, dedication, eye and attention for detail, as well as her unique ability to connect with students to help them understand a wide range of concepts. She really looks out for her students and always goes the extra mile by sending me regular, detailed status reports and thoughtful recommendations. She has connected with my children’s teachers to coordinate lesson planning and make sure her tutoring is on point, and she has always been there for my children, and me, whenever we have a question. My children simply adore her and I always know they are in the best of hands."
-Kuae Kelch Mattox, Montclair, NJ mother of three children
(2019 UCLA graduate; sophomore at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania; Junior at The Pingry School)
"Nyasa Kingslow, Hidden Figure Extraordinaire! My son started working with Ms. Nyasa in the 6th grade while attending a local independent school. He loves math and was not getting the attention he needed in class. Ms. Nyasa related to him right off the bat and he came out smiling and confidence soaring. If your child needs someone who believes in their ability, can show it and loves numbers inside and out, then Mathematically Speaking is worth a look. Ms. Nyasa sharpened my son’s skills and increased his confidence. She related to him, showed interest in his outside activities and always made herself available to him via e-mail when not in class. As an African American mother, it was important for my son to understand his abilities and work on his challenges. Ms. Nyasa does a great job of balancing those two and continues to help him soar. Mother of a confident 10th grader"
-MJ Cunningham, Mother of confident 10th grader
"Mathematically Speaking is truly life changing! I have had private tutoring for my daughter since she was in the 3rd grade, none ever able to really connect with her learning style. My daughter struggled with math to the point where she became intimidated and instantly defeated anytime she was faced with a math problem.
We found Mathematically Speaking and she began to soar in her ability to problem solve. She went from failing math to being on the honor roll the entire school year. Mrs. Kingslow teaches in a way that builds confidence through a greater understanding of math. Her nurturing spirit empowers students to become critical thinkers inside and outside the classroom. The many levels offered by Mathematically Speaking enables my daughter to receive tutoring that grows with her all the way through college with a consistent instructor who knows her needs well, what a BONUS!"
-Kelli M., Summit, NJ
"I have three children who were tutored by Ms. Nyasa of Mathematically Speaking. All are now college grads. Ms. Nyasa instilled confidence while making math fun. This experienced, enthusiastic and intelligent instructor has contributed more to my children’s development than any other teacher or instructor. She is a permanent fixture in our lives, and I hope she continues to teach and motivate children until my grandchild is able to benefit from her expertise."
-Alma McDonald-Anderson, South Orange, NJ
"Nyasa Kingslow is a dedicated, passionate and talented teacher and tutor who I wholeheartedly recommend. She tutored both of my daughters who have very different aptitudes and temperaments. Nyasa understood exactly what they both needed and how best to support, explain and instill not only strategies for learning but math confidence in them both. In addition to being a skilled teacher, Nyasa is a very kind and caring person who touched both of my girls’ lives. We are so grateful for her work and heart."
-Carrie G.(Mother of sophomore at Occidental College and high school senior)

– Tevin H., Chemistry
“In one session I understand this stuff more than the entire semester in class”
– Tyler C., Algebra I
“This program is outrageous, unbelievable and challenging! Every session I learn something new or a new way to solve a problem. I am so happy my Mom found this great program for me because without it I would not have been able to achieve my goal in mathematics. Thank you, Ms. Nyasa.”
– Alana H., SSAT Prep.
"I started attending Mathematically Speaking as a summer program in middle school and shortly after began sessions on a weekly basis during the school year. I had very little confidence when it came to the subject and I constantly felt I couldn't think fast enough to participate in school. Algebra felt intangible and I was frustrated with my inability to immediately understand the solutions. I would bring my quizzes and tests to Ms. Nyasa every week and we would go through each individual problem until I understood what I did wrong and how to approach it in the future. She would photocopy homework and assessments and next session she remade similar problems for me to try to test my progress and understanding. No question was insignificant and she took the time to explain and breakdown each concept in a clear and digestible manner. She developed a space that felt safe and comfortable for learning and each week I entered I left her classroom with relief. Math continued to be a journey for me, but she taught me to be accountable for both my successes and failures which became a lesson I held onto beyond academia. I continued to attend sessions throughout high school and the days I didn't have a session and felt I had hit a wall, Ms. Nyasa would walk me through specific problems over the phone. She invests her time and spirit into each and every student and created a safe haven where all are welcomed to learn and grow. She was there to help me through my physics finals and the SAT's and over the years her reliability resulted in an immutable trust. She made me feel valued and understood and it was very clear to me that her care ranged far beyond my academic success and fused into my development as a human being. I graduated Spring 2018 from NYU and I brought the discipline and confidence she taught me to every math course I took in college. It's a rare thing when someone's passion for a subject makes you excited to learn and I will always be grateful to Ms. Nyasa for all that she's taught me."
